Victoria

Solar Victoria solar panel (PV) rebate

Up to $1,400 for eligible owner-occupiers, plus an optional interest-free loan of up to $1,400. Combined household income must be $150,000 or less and the property under $3 million. Solar Victoria has announced PV support moves into the Victorian Energy Upgrades program from 1 July 2027.

FAQ

Questions we are asked

Is there a battery rebate in Victoria in 2026?

Yes, through the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which applies across Australia including Victoria. It is about a 30% upfront discount via STCs.

Do I have to apply for the battery discount myself?

No. The installer applies the STC discount on the quote; you do not lodge a separate application.

Does the battery discount reduce over time?

Yes. The STC factor drops every six months until 2030, so the dollar discount per kWh falls over time.

Who is eligible for the Solar Victoria solar panel rebate?

Owner-occupiers with combined household taxable income of $150,000 or less, a property value under $3 million, and no PV system installed at the address in the last 10 years, among other criteria. Use an authorised solar retailer.
